Our Sunday worship is traditional, using Evangelical Lutheran Book of Worship (ELW). We celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday. Believing that Jesus Christ is present in the bread and wine of communion and confessing that he is the host of this meal, all are welcome to the table. Children and adults who do not wish to commune may come forward for a blessing. Most Sundays a children’s chat is part of the service.
Accessibility in (and to) worship is important! At St John’s, handicapped parking is available in the lot. Ramps, wheelchair accessible bathrooms, and an elevator are all available in the building. Additionally, we offer large print bulletins along with individual sound amplification devices for worship. Ask a greeter or usher for any of these items.
We believe that baptism “works forgiveness of sins, rescues from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe this, as the words and promises of God declare” (Luther’s Small Catechism). Baptism is open to all people including infants, children and adults. Baptisms are scheduled with the church office. Contact the church office for more information.
St John’s welcomes the opportunity to celebrate wedding services. We celebrate with you in the importance of your wedding day and ceremony. At the same time, we know it is also a commitment that is not taken lightly. Therefore, we require all those wishing to be married at St John’s to participate in counseling. You can request our wedding packet via email, but we know that all situations are different. Contact the church office for more accurate information.
Completing the cycle of life passages, St John’s mourns with those in pain and sadness at the death of a loved one, but looks forward in hope to the resurrection. Funerals can be held in either the St Peter’s Memorial Chapel or the Sanctuary, and the staff can direct you towards the right space. Contact the church office for more information.
